Chris Ryan

Good-O

The world and everyone in it has reduced Chris Ryan to eye rolls and sighing.

How are we expected to take anything seriously when everything is so half-arsed? What if the only thing that sparks your joy is another’s misfortune?

When confronted with fakery, pop psychology and other people’s problems, sometimes the only word for it is Good-O.

PLEASE NOTE
There is a full lockout for this performance and latecomers will not be permitted.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

A journalist, a mum and a comedian, Chris Ryan’s take on everything from passive aggressive co-workers to romance earned her a Best Newcomer at the Sydney Comedy Festival in 2019 and a Best Newcomer Nomination at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2021.

Chris’s stand up is based on her life and the people in it, making it real and relatable, delivered in her signature understated, laconic style. If you’re looking for a song and dance, you’re not getting it.

She’s performed on TV in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Oxfam Gala (2022) and Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow (2023) as well as Just for Laughs Gala in Melbourne (2022).

Chris has toured Australia with her solo festival shows (2021-23) and extensively with Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow and Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase. She was also invited to perform comedy for the Australian troops in the Middle East (2019).

Chris received a Homefront Grant from the ACT Government to film her debut special Big Hair, Big Dreams, which is now available on her YouTube Channel along with a six-part online series she animated called Chats with Mum, an unscripted, sometimes outrageous series of chats with her mum, Wendy Ryan.

Her 2024 show Good-O is touring in Canberra, Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

Nominee, Best Newcomer, Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2021
