Charlie Lewin
Cockatiel
Charlie Lewin never felt like a magpie. Which is probably a good thing, because they’re all full of shit.
From Catholic boy’s school all the way to Grindr, Cockatiel is a hilarious and heartfelt snapshot of the life of a queer kid from Melbourne trying to find his flock.
Bending genre and gender, stand-up and song, Best Newcomer winner (MICF 2021) Charlie Lewin is excited to spread his wings in this whip-smart and relatable coming-of-age tale of a drama kid turned drama queen.
PLEASE NOTE
There is a full lockout for this performance and latecomers will not be permitted.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Having delighted audiences across Australia, Charlie has presented his love letter Cockatiel at sold out shows at Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne’s queer Midsumma Festival and Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Charlie Lewin is a standup, writer and theatre-maker from Melbourne. After making his foray into the world of stand-up in 2018, Charlie quickly made a splash in the Australian comedy circuit, earning a Best Comedy nomination for his cabaret Community Service at Melbourne Fringe, and earning a prestigious place in MICF’s The Comedy Zone (2019) – a month-long showcase of the best and brightest new comedians in the country.
He now works as a comedy producer on Channel 10’s The Project and his own weekly podcast POPGAYS, for which he won silver for Best Entertainment at the Australian Podcast Awards in 2022.
