Ethan Cavanagh
Bond, Lost My Bond
Best Newcomer Nominee – Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2025
Best Comedy – Dunedin Fringe 2023
Coming in hot from a world tour and a Las Vegas residency in 2025, comedian and serial renter Ethan Cavanagh makes his long-awaited Brisbane Comedy Festival solo debut.
As well as obliterating Ethan’s prospects of home ownership, Bond, Lost My Bond promises a cathartic barrage of laughs with material covering everything from serial killers to property managers (same difference, let’s be honest), plus a smattering of Venn Diagrams for the PowerPoint fans.
If you’ve ever lost a bond, lost your patience, or lost yet another weekend at an inspection, this is the show for you.
Ethan is fast becoming known by audiences for his trademark polished style and fast-paced delivery, and by landlords as “a little hostile”. This is your chance to catch him before he becomes hotter property than an unairconditioned sharehouse in December.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ethan Cavanagh was diagnosed as a stand-up comedian at the ripe old age of 15 and has been learning to live with the symptoms ever since.
Country-bumpkin-turned-big-smoke, Ethan originally hails from rural Western Victoria, but is now one of Melbourne’s fastest-rising and extravagantly over-dressed comedians, with a few awards to boot.
Having toured multiple sell-out shows across Australia and internationally, Ethan is fast becoming known for his trademark polished style and fast-paced delivery that threads razor-sharp observations through familiar storytelling.
His global touring highlights include a sold-out debut season at The Edinburgh Fringe, a four-week residency in Toronto and an extended sold-out run in New York’s off-Broadway Soho Playhouse. He’s played some of the world’s most illustrious comedy clubs, including Cape Town Comedy Club, Good Times Christchurch, and Melbourne’s Comedy Republic, as well as featuring in flagship Melbourne International Comedy Festival shows such as The Great Debate, MICF Roadshow, The Festival Club, and Comedy at The Espy.
You can hear Ethan mucking around on the radio every week as part of his ABC Vic Statewide Drive segment The Internet Report. He’s also appeared on screen in ABC’s Stand & Deliver and Channel 31’s The Leak.
In addition to his more traditional stand-up, Ethan has injected his comedy into a growing menu of formats, from touring his comedy wine tasting show, In Pour Taste, to being a clicker-wielding co-host of the Melbourne comedy cult hit The Late Nite PowerPoint Comedy Showcase. In a short time, Ethan has made his presence in showbiz known and quickly become one of Melbourne’s most exciting new talents.
